24-07-16 Amendments of Education, Research, and Religious Affairs ministry accepted
A majority of the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Commerce and Production accepted legislative amendments of the Ministry of Education to a bill submitted by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, entitled “Framework for security in offshore works in research and exploitation of hydrocarbons , incorporating EU directive 2013/30/ΕU, amendment of Presidential Decree 148/2009 and other provisions”.
The Education, Research and Religious Affairs Ministry Amendment regulates collective organs of personnel at artistic schools and of Vocational Education and an amendment to ensure funding for educators’ positions.
The bill will be discussed in a plenary session of parliament on July 25 in one session. The two articles pertaining to the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs are articles 60 and 62 and they read as follows:
Article 60
Regulation regarding the operation of collective organs of personnel at artistic schools and Vocational Education.
By decision of the Minister of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, approval may be given to Teaching Research Personnel (DEP) to participate in collective organs, which are put in place by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs to handle issues of primary and secondary school education, and to continue to participate without remuneration in the above collective organs until the end of their term and after their retirement , in the capacity in which they have been appointed, once they have submitted the relevant application.
Article 62
Ensuring funding for educators.
Article 19 of law 4283/2014 (Government Gazette Α' 189), as currently in effect, is replaced with the following:
Article 19: For the payment of unpaid and hourly contract teachers and of Special Education and Special Supplemental Personnel, it is possible to draw on funding from the national (Greek state) contribution to the Public Investment Programme of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs . The relative expenditure can be drawn based on the approved Collective Decision of 2016 up to the amount of one hundred sixteen million and two hundred thousand euros (116.2 million euros) and the related Collective Decision of 2017, up to the amount of one hundred and fourteen million euros (114 million euros).
