29-07-16 Call for Operational Programme 'Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation'
The General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GGET, being the Greek acronym) has issued a call entitled “Action for Strategic Development, Research and Technological Institutions” to submit proposals for the operational programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation”.
The aim is to bolster the strategic aims of research and technology institutions under the purview of the secretariat which promote development, excellence and quality services, in the framework of the Operational Programme.
The EU website describes the operational programme objectives thusly:
- "Enhancing entrepreneurship with sectorial priorities" (ERDF –50,79% of EU allocation): increase research potential and private investments in research and development, promote innovation and outturn of SMEs, particularly in sectors with a competitive advantage (agri-food, energy, supply chain, cultural and creative industries, environment, tourism/culture, ICT, health, Material/Constructions).
- "Adaptability of employees, enterprises and entrepreneurial environment to the new development requirements" (ESF –18,18% of EU allocation): aiming at matching the employees and enterprises skills to the development needs. In parallel, the effort will focus on the capacity of the public administration to facilitate the improvement of the entrepreneurial environment.
- "Development of mechanisms to enhance entrepreneurship" (ERDF –29,19 % of EU allocation): invest in upgrading the country's infrastructures in the sectors enhancing the development of entrepreneurship, the innovation and the outturn of the enterprises (mainly research centres, broadband and NGA infrastructures and energy efficiency interventions).
- "Technical Assistance" (ERDF - 1.50% and ESF 0.34% of EU allocation respectively): provision of technical assistance.
The second call for interest involves “Bolstering Infrastructure of Research and Technology”, as part of the Operational Programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation”.
The call pertains to research institutions of Greece, the proposals of which have been included in the register of research infrastructure, technological development and innovation, which was approved by a May 25, 2016 decision of Alternate Education, Research and Development Minister Costas Fotakis (decision 84485/25.05.2016), following evaluation of the linkage with the National Strategy of Smart Specialisation of Infrastructure in the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructure.
With this call, the above institutions are invited to submit an updated analytical proposal on the preparatory phase of developing infrastructure, which will include execution of research work, basic or applied research, networking activity and improved access.
The objective of this action is to increase Greece’s innovation capability by bolstering significant Research, Technology, Development and Innovation infrastructure, connecting it with the private sector, meeting social challenges, as well as networking with corresponding structures in Europe and internationally.
