19-08-16 Historical currents programme for secondary school literature teachers
The History and Archaeology Department of the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Athens is organising a free educational programme for secondary school Greek literature teachers (PE02 category) exploring contemporary currents in historical research and methodology, entitled Istoriis Episkepsis.
The programme will be held at the Athens’ Cultural Centre, in the Antonis Tritsis Amphitheatre, at 50 Akadimias Street in Athens.
The three consecutive cycles run between September 23 throu+gh October 8; November 11 -November 19; December 2 – December 3, 2016. The seminars will be conducted at times not conflicting with the school day and at no cost for the public sector.
The programme’s website indicates that the aim is to introduce secondary school teachers to new currents in history - such as approaches to the concepts of institutions, nation, community, identity, and the history of age phases, gender, family, environment - highlighting the historicity of concepts, on the basis of which different historical periods and subject areas are discussed.
The seminars cover Greek history from the stone age, classical Greece, Byzantium, the Ottoman period to modern Greece and the Greek diaspora.
