26-09-19 Requirement for refugee education coordinator set out in encyclical

Tenured educators who fulfil the preconditions have three days within which to submit applications electronically for the posts of Refugee Education Coordinators at refugee reception centres. The deadline is Thursday, 29 September at midnight (24:00) for the electronic submissions through the Comprehensive Information System, and instructions are to be found in a guidebook available at https://opsyd.sch.gr.

The transfer application for Primary School and Secondary School teachers may be submitted to only one Regional Directorate of Primary or Secondary Schools, respectively, with the option of declaring a preference for more than one refugee reception centre under the same regional directorate.

Who is not eligible to apply:

All primary school and secondary school teachers are eligible to submit a transfer posting applications except those who:

  1. Are already on educational staff with a term of service
  2. Are posted with a term of service following review
  3. Are posted with a term of service at model or experimental schools

Applications from educators who are in the above categories will not be accepted.

Who is eligible to apply:

Tenured educators may be chosen to fill Refugee Education Coordinator posts, as long as they have one of the following qualifications, in the following order of importance:

  1. Educational experience at Inter-cultural Schools, Reception Classes, Tutoring Sections, Greek language classes abroad and other compensatory structures
  2. Specialisation (graduate degree or Ph.D.) in inter-cultural education
  3. Voluntary participation in educational activities for refugees, either inside or outside of an organised educational framework

Educators who do not meet even one of the above conditions may submit applications, which will however be reviewed under the procedures of filling posts of Refugee Education Coordinators, in accordance with Joint Ministerial Decision 152360/ΓΔ4/19-09-2016, paragraph 7. In particular, if there are no teachers who meet even one of the above requirements, tenured teachers’ applications may be accepted.
