26-10-16  Annual eTwinning conference begins in Athens

The eTwinning annual conference 2016 will be held in Athens between 27-29 October at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel.

The focus of the conference is to explore together how to raise the capabilities of the schools of today to be prepared for the challenges of the fully digital society of tomorrow.

Over 500 educators, school principals, members of National Support Services, members of the European Commission, and representatives of Education Ministries from 41 countries will participate in the three-day event.

The conference will include a number of workshops on professional development and networking activities. The proceedings will focus on the exchange of knowhow on new practices, seeking new teaching methods, and bolstering the eTwinning community through workshops, interactive sessions and informal meetings.

The conference will serve as an opportunity to highlight the exceptional accomplishments of schools’ cooperation through the eTwinning programme.

During the conference, the European eTwinning 2016 prizes will be awarded in a special ceremony. The Greek schools that will receive awards are the following:

  • The Odysseas Elytis 1st Junior High School of Ampelokipoi for its project Time Capsule 2014-2114  and their teacher-advisor Athanasia Papchristou, in the 12-15 year old age group.

  • The Primary School of Zervorohoria, Chakidiki, for their Young Scientists project, with advisor-teacher Melahrini Papardeli, will be awarded the Mevlana Prize for Inter-cultural Understanding.

The European Conference has been organised by the Central Support Service (CSS) in Brussels, Belgium, and participating educators have been selected by National Support  Services. Greek participants includes teachers who have been distinguished at a  national and European level and by eTwinning ambassadors.
