07-09-16 Xyni vocational training institute and Mediterranean College licenses revoked

The General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth announces to students that, as the overseeing and competent authority for the licensing of Private Institutes of Vocational Training (IEK), it has revoked the operating licenses of the following institutes and colleges:

1. Private Institute for Vocational Training with the title “I.I.E.K. XYNI” owned by the company “TOPIKO EVROPAIKO ANONYMI ETAIREIA”  S.A. (ΤΟΠΙΚΟΕΥΡΩΠΑΪΚΟΑΝΩΝΥΜΗΕΤΑΙΡΕΙΑ).

1. Mediterrranean College, owned by the Company “Mesogeiako Kentro Ekpaidefsis” (ΜΕΣΟΓΕΙΑΚΟΚΕΝΤΡΟΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΣΗΣΑ.Ε.), headquartered in Thessaloniki, 2-4 Egnatias Street.

The revocations occurred because at least one of the licensing terms was not met.

Licenses were also revoked from the following:

1. Private Institute for Vocational Training with the title “I.I.E.K. XYNI” and owned by “Peiraiki Ekpaideftiki” Limited Liability Company, headquartered in Piraeus.
2. Private Institute for Vocational Training with the title “I.I.E.K. XYNI”, owned by Ekpaideftiki Voreiou Elladas Limited Liability Company, headquartered in Thessaloniki.
3. Private Institute for Vocational Training with the title “I.I.E.K. XYNI”, owned by “Ekpaideftiki Notion Proastion” Limited Liability Company, headquartered in Glyfada, Attica.

These revocations are in implementation of the ruling of the Athens Appellate Administrative Court, case number A973/19-07-2016.

The archives of the above Private Institutes for Vocational Training, the licenses of which were revoked, will be handed over by their administrations to a public Institute for Vocational Training within thirty (30) calendar days.

The archive of the aforementioned College, the license of which was revoked, will be handed over by its administration to the recipient which the ministry decides in a forthcoming decision.  

The students at the above Private Institutes for Vocational Training are entitled to a 2016-2017 tuition down-payment refund. They are also entitled to transfer to another Private Institute for Vocational Training, in a location of their choice,  that has a department in their specialisation, or alternatively they are entitled to a free transfer to a public Institute for Vocational Training if it has a department in their specialisation. If a related department does not exist, it may be created by decision of the General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth.

The students of the aforementioned college are entitled to either a tuition refund or transfer to another college of their choice (Government Gazette ΄Β2810/06-09-2016 and ΄Β2811/06-09-2016).
