03-11-16 Nikos Filis holds talks on refugee education with Greens Eurodeputy Ska Keller
Minister of Education, Research, and Religious Affairs Nikos Filis held talks today in Athens with German European Parliament deputy Ska Keller, Vice-President of the bureau of the Greens/EFA Group. Ms Keller has been active in supporting the rights of refugees.
The meeting was attended by Alternate Environment Minister Yannis Tsironis, General Secretary for Lifelong Learning and Youth Pausania Papageorgiou, the director of Education Minister Nikos Filis’ office Takis Katsaros, and two representatives of the Greece’s Greens Party, Maria Petinaki and Elena Botsi.
Thanking Ska Keller for her visit to the ministry, Filis briefed the Greens Eurodeputy on initiatives to address refugee issues.
Expressing particular interest in the ministry’s refugee education programme, Keller was briefed on the operation of particular educational structures that the Education Ministry has established nationwide.
European Parliament Deputy Keller recognised the efforts made by all of Greek society and by the Greek government to address an enormous problem, and pledged that Greece can count on the aid and support of the European Greens.
