16-12-16 Deputy Minister Zouraris’ remarks at student festival for ‘Year of Aristotle’
In the framework of the Student Festival for the 2,400th anniversary of the birth of Aristotle, which took place in Jacqueline de Romilly Hall at the Ministry of Education, Research, and Religious Affairs, Deputy Minister Costas Zouraris, upon the invitation of the Directorate of European and International Affairs, addressed students and teachers.
Zouraris referred to a particular passage in the work of the Stagirite philosopher On Interpretation, and highlighted once again the diachronic value of Aristotelian Logic as a tool for solving problems in the contemporary world.
Indicatively, the minister referred to the major issue of the claiming the name Macedonia by Skopje, which is irrational from the perspective of the Aristotelian scheme regarding affirmation and negation.
Zouraris lauded the contribution of his predecessor Theodoros Pellegrinis in disseminating Aristotle’s work and of ancient Greek philosophical thought in general, throughout his tenure.
