20-12-16 Ministry rejects demand of KEDE municipalities’ union to oversee kindergartens

Education, Research and Religious Affairs Minister Costas Gavroglou, in response to the publicly stated demand of the KEDE municipalities’ union that its members be ceded responsibility for the operation of kindergartens in municipalities, made the following statement:

“The Ministry of Education, under the provisions of the Constitution, bears exclusive responsibility for education at all levels. The request of KEDE is categorically rejected, as it violates the Constitution of the country and the political will of the government.”
