05-07-16 Full procedures for university entry exams for Greeks abroad
The Ministry of Education Research and Religious Affairs has invited Greeks abroad who meet the preconditions for inclusion in special categories of candidates for university entry to submit by email their exam applications, as well as the computerised registration card noting the faculties to which they wish to apply.
Applications will be accepted between 7 July and 14 July, 2016.
Candidates can visit the related platform at https://exams-expatriate.it.minedu.gov.gr which is open 24 hours a day, in order to fill out the required forms, without needing to visit Greece.
Before submitting the application, candidates must review the related “Instructions for University Admission for Greeks Living abroad and for the children of Greek employees working abroad in 2016”, which may found at the ministry website, www.minedu.gov.gr, in the category “Examinations” and the sub-category “Greeks Abroad” (announcements section). There, candidates may ascertain whether they meet the requirements and documentation for the faculties in which they are interested.
Candidates must fill out the data regarding the application to participate and the preference registration card and print out two copies of the completed forms and sign all pages of the documents. The applicant keeps one of the two copies.
Candidates must also print out two copies and sign the required notarised statement which entails a synopsis of the application documents. ONE of the two copies, along with all other required documentation, must be submitted to the secretariat of the faculty which has accepted the applicant.
Applicants in all five (5) categories should know that immediately after the email submission and the finalisation of their participation application and registration preference card, they must:
- Directly print from the official site and send: One copy of the participation application, one copy of the computerised registration preference card, and the notarised statement in the “Synopsis-Review” section.
- They must sign the above three documents (and ALL pages of the computerised registration card).
- They must send the above along with – a photocopy of a state police ID card or passport,
A photocopy of their diploma along with an OFFICIAL TRANSLATION into Greek (in cases where a diploma from a foreign school is involved.
- One photocopy of a certificate indicating the diploma’s parity and correspondence with Greek ones, issued by the Education Ministry Directorate of Diaspora Greek Education, Inter-cultural Education, and Foreign and Minority schools, OR issued by the domestic Directorate of Secondary Education, OR by the Educational Coordinators for Greek diplomats serving abroad.
- Certification of the grade of the diploma and conversion to the Greek 20-point grading system (this is ONLY for applicants in categories 3 and 5).
- In cases of secondary technical schools, one must send a certificate of equivalence and parity issued by the technical certification board (EOPPEP), and a photocopy of a certificate showing the conversion of the technical school diploma grades to the Greek 20-point system (this is ONLY for applicants in categories 3 and 5).
- Two photocopies of the state police ID card.
- A photocopy of certification issued by the competent educational or diplomatic authority of the home country, which shows that in the country whose programme of studies is followed by the school issuing the diploma, that diploma qualifies one for university entry. These certificates are not required of high school graduates from the Republic of Cyprus.
Applicants who are disabled or have special educational needs, who are examined orally due to dyslexia or other conditions, must send to the above directorate a photocopy of an original certificate from the KEDDY diagnostic centres or from the medical-paedagogical centres of other ministries.

It should be marked “For the Committee for the Collection and Review of Participation Applications and Computerised Registration Cards for Greeks Abroad for 2016.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY THE JULY 15 DEADLINE.
AFTER THE JULY 14 DEADLINE FOR EMAIL APPLICATIONS, NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
In cases where candidates lack some required documentation but fulfill all the requirements, they must submit for review the required documents to the faculty that has accepted them during the registration period.
In cases where it is determined that the legal preconditions are not met due to the submission of false or non-legal documentation, the applicant is rejected and banned from examination procedures for the following two academic years.
The examination dates and programme will be announced in a later ministry press release.
Candidates will receive the examinations qualification card on the first day of exams at the exam centre in the city where they will sit for exams (Athens or Thessaloniki). Exam centre locations will be announced in the last 10 days of August.
