08-08-16 Over 1,700 schools receive textbooks ahead of start of school year
Over 24 million copies of textbooks have been distributed to schools nationwide, ahead of the September 12 start of the school year. In past years long delays in distribution had become a woeful tradition, in some cases necessitating the provision of photocopies of textbooks so classes could begin.
Following the completion of the distribution of textbooks to primary schools and general high schools [lykeia], last week distribution of textbooks to junior high schools [gymnasia] was completed.
A total of 1,727 schools and 231 distribution centres received 4,946 pallets and 251 cardboard boxes of books, with a total of nearly 6.7 million textbooks.
On August 3, the packaging and distribution of textbooks to general education vocational high schools, [Muslim] minority primary schools, and special education schools began for the 2016-2017 school year. The distribution is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Prior to distribution, there will be notification from the Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus", by electronic message, either email or telephone. Schools and distribution centres are requested to immediately confirm receipt of their booksat the following webpage: http://publications.cti.gr– and specifically by clicking the “Confirmation of Receipt” line under the “Receipts” [paralaves] menu.
