The priorities for the European Agenda for Adult Learning for the period 2015-2020:
- Enhancing coordination, effectiveness and coherence with other relevant policy fields, and correlation of education with the needs of society and the labor market
- Increase investment on Adult Education and Lifelong Learning
- Significant increase in supply mainly literacy, numeracy and digital skills programs
- Increasing accessibility to training programs in the workplace and adequate use of ICT
- Developing certification systems and adequate supply of second-chance programs
- Quality monitoring and recording of the provided program results
- Quality of initial and continuing training of adult educators and recording needs
The General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning and Youth is designated as National Coordinator for the implementation of the European Agenda for Adult Learning in Greece. The actions to be implemented in the years 2015 -2017 will operate at the national level involving ministries, trade unions, civil society and associations of local and regional government authorities as well as at regional and local level to activate and formalize regional networks.
Action Plan
- Establishment of National Steering Committee (with representatives from the Ministry of Interior affairs, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Labour, Union of Regions, Union of Municipalities)
- Two key conferences for information and dialogue
- National awareness campaign on upgrading skills
- 13 information days in regions with the participation of local actors
- Pilot distance learning program for the Second Chance Schools
- Seminars for educators and prison officers in the Second Chance Schools of correctional centers and best practices guide
- Seminars for organizations - associations working in the field of immigration and education guide for immigrants
- Recommendations for policy makers that respond to the real needs of adult education
- Develop awareness and information sites on the national and European level adult education
